I'm sorry you and your daughter are going through these difficulties. The cause may not be one or the other, meaning both physical and environmental factors have contributed to her mental health issues. So,  it's good she is getting help from a counselor as he or she will be able to give you more insight as her counseling sessions progress. 

Children with disabilities often have a greater chance of developing mental health problems than children without disabilities.  High rates of mental health difficulties have also been found in young people who are hearing impaired, have cerebral palsy, epilepsy or chronic illness. The level of the child’s impairment, support, and attitudes from others are key factors that influence the mental health and wellbeing of children with disabilities.
