Hello, Anon. Thank you for writing.

Familial hypercholesterolemia is an inherited condition characterized by higher than normal levels of LDL blood cholesterol. Familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) causes up to 10 percent of early-onset coronary artery disease. The cause is a mutation in a gene.

For people with the genetic disorder, lowering cholesterol naturally (with diet and exercise alone) is not enough. Medical treatment and medication, often a combination of medications, are necessary to manage dangerously high cholesterol levels that can put you at risk for early and aggressive heart disease. So, it's very important to follow the treatment plan your doctor recommends.
