Washing the outer genitalia or taking a shower after sex will not interfere with pregnancy.
It's important to have sex in the days before ovulation as well as on ovulation day to try for pregnancy. So if you ovulate on day 14 of of your cycle, you would have sex on the 10th, 12th and 14th - every other day. You can track your ovulation via calendar or by using a kit found in any drugstore.
