Hello, Anon. Thank you for your message!

I can give you some general information. Please discuss your concerns with your doctor.

Once you have started taking anticoagulant medications after having a blood clot, the blood clot may dissolve on its own, or it may remain in your leg for a longer period of time. If the body's clotting system is successfully turned off by the anticoagulant medications, then the clot usually shrinks down and becomes firmly attached to the blood vessel wall. This process is thought to take about 5 to 10 days. However, sometimes it can take weeks to resolve. Your doctor, who knows the specifics of your condition, can tell you more.
