It sounds like this may be tissue. A period is blood and tissue. Tissue can clot, be round or in strands. It's not your cervix, that is attached to your body. Periods after pregnancy can be extremely heavy but now that you're on birth control, you may find they lighten up.

Check every month to make sure the Mirena is still in place by feeling for the strings.

If you're still concerned, by all means ask for a check up to ease your mind. We can't say for certain what's going on, only what's possible.
