Other common causes are inflammation and thinning of the vaginal lining or womb lining caused by lower estrogen levels. Cervical or womb polyps – growths that are usually non-cancerous. Sexually transmitted diseases like chlamydia and gonorrhea may cause spotting and bleeding after sex. Herpes sores can also bleed.
