Thank you for sharing your family secret with strangers on the internet. You are right, sharing is healing. Back in 1988 (I was 20 at the time)my gradmother who we also called Nana, was going in to have her 3rd surgery done on her heart. This time it would be a quadruple bypass and the Dr. told us that she would die on the table. They didnt even give her a 5% chance of living. Well she made it through the surgery and everyone was thankful and a little baffled because of what the Dr. told us. We were waiting for her to wake up so that we could all see, hug and touch her but she never did. According to the Dr she had a stroke during the surgery and she was brain dead. My grandfather (Tata to us)had to make the decision to have the life support disconnected. I know in his heart he would have kept her on the life support just to keep her here with him but he knew that she did not want to live that way. She had expressed this much to him and her Dr before the surgery. I believe that we as human beings should be able to decide when/how we want to die, especially if we are in agonizing pain. GOD does not want anyone to live like that.

Thank you again Todd.
