About a year and a half ago I was in a car accident and now have 3 pins in my right ankle, a total hip replacement and 2 pins in the right knee. The pain has never went away. Monday I went to see an ankle Dr. for help. He told me, from what the x ray shows, my bone is dead and the best thing for me would be to fuse it. I am only 29 and very scared about making the wrong decision. I am taking pain medication but it only works for so long and I'm needing to take more and more every few months. Standing for more than an hour or so will make the ankle swollen and be very hard for me to even want to walk. Now, from reading a lot of these posts I'm having even more second thoughts about the surgery. I hope I make the right decision and hope the best for all of you going through this life changing ordeal.
