Dear Janet,
What a story! I will be tracking down Dr. Myerson shortly.
I was born with bi lateral club feet in 1980. My feet have been resistive since day 1. My right foot hasn't had any more surgery since I was 5 ( Dr Mosca at Children's in Seattle) . It's my left that has given me the most pain. I had 2 seperate Triplearthurdesis in my teens on my left foot, including an osteograft and screws/pins. I saw Dr Herzenburg several years ago (he's now one of the best club foot specialists in the nation at Siani in Baltimore) and he said that since all the surgery has already been done there is nothing more that can be done really. All the interns came out of the woodwork though. I was an example of the "old school" treatments.
Your post gives me hope. My new orthopedist recommends ankle fusion because my pain is increasing. I've had cortisone injections, acupuncture and I started using a cane at times this year. He gave me a brace to wear (a soft lace up kind) but after wearing that for 3 weeks it threw my back out. My range of motion is limited but greater in the right foot but even more limited in the left. Thanks for your story. Dr. Myerson might just be my saving grace.
