My Naturopath prescribed 5-HTH and St. John's Wort to my husband to help control his stress, and it seemed to work.

But first, I think it helps to get to the root of what's causing your angst. Also, find something a little physical, whether it's yoga, tai chi or some other activity to tap into your positive energy.
