Caregiving can certainly cause its share of stress. Here are some warning signs of caregiver stress, courtesy of the American Academy of Family Physicians:

* Feeling unusually angry or resentful toward the person you care for, yourself or your family.
* Withdrawing from social activities.
* Anxiety.
* Sleeping too much or having difficulty sleeping.
* Feeling irritable.
* Being sick frequently.

And MaryP, I've experienced mild anxiety in my day and felt that a product made with magnolia called Relora worked for me. I have recommended it to others who have had similar success.

Taking care of yourself is so important and it's normal for caregivers to want a respite. Have you looked into local churches or volunteer organizations that may provide adult day care for wheelchair bound adults?

Also, you may want to take a look at http://www.nadsa.org/ -- the National Adult Day Services Web site.
