Anterior ischemic optic neuropathy is a medical condition involving loss of vision due to damage to the optic nerve from insufficient blood supply. AION is generally divided into two types: arteritic AION (or AAION) and non-arteritic AION (NAION or simply AION).
Apparently, this condition affects primarily older patients age 50+. Symptoms
The articles I found mentioned possible treatment and surgery, with the hope of preventing the sudden blindness in the good eye. But, I didn't see anything about a cure. Perhaps one of our medical experts can answer this question for you.
