It's a word my husband and I repeat frequently to our rowdy group of nephews. Despite our amazing strength, women have a natural gentleness that we try to instill in the boys and men around us.

Also, we try to impress upon them lessons my brother and I learned from spending so much time together. For gifts, my parents were prone to giving us bikes and board games (as opposed to say trucks and dolls) in an effort to engage us in activities we both could both enjoy.

Today, when my husband and I are around children, we also try not to 'segregate' girls from boys during play time. These days, we go swimming or rockclimbing. (Yup, we see just as many girls on the rock wall as boys.) For us, this has been a great way to teach respect to the little ones in our lives and get them to understand one another instead of trying to exclude one other.
