I had a hysterectomy about 5 years ago. I had low iron and heavy periods. After the procedure, my iron level did not improve after 1 year. I then found out I had Celiac disease that layed dormant in my body and the operation brought it out. After a gluten-free life, my iron level improved. Then a year after this I develope type II diabetes? No one in my family has it. Along with this came depression, elevated liver enzymes and more. During this time I was on hormone shots (because the pills contained gluten.) My hair started to fall out and I gained 30 pounds. A dermatologist found I was being poisoned by the hormones (testosterone) My level was at 7.0 and max was to be 2.0. No one checked me, not once, and I didn't know I was suppose to be checked for this. I found an Internal Medicine Dr. (that a psychologist suggested that I see,) that is helping me regain my health. All caused by hormone treatment, with the exception of the celiac disease.

My advise to any one considering hormone treatment, research and research. This was something I did not do because I put all of my trust in the doctor.
