I think it's wonderful that women are willing to define themselves by something other than their looks -- their intelligence, their skills, their generosity, I can go on and on. However, people who are overweight are setting themselves up for some serious health risks and those risks can jeopardize the whole person. While ignoring societal pressures from the perspective of appearance, they may also be ignoring a very functional aspect of their own health. It seems like reverse anorexia here. Sure, you may be conforming to the norm but it's not good for your health. I think the take away here is not to engage in any extreme behavior that is unhealthy.
