This makes me think of a great Bed & Breakfast, and you could really go over the top (in an easy and inexpensive way) with your idea. Plan everything the day/night before, so you can really enjoy it on your birthday.

I went to a B&B for an all-day work retreat, and they had the healthy snacks you spoke about laying around the room; there were throw pillow and blankets, candles lit/lamps on (no over-head lights), reading "nooks" with paperbacks open. The snacks included fruits, veggies & dipping sauces (mint yogurt was yummy!), water and lemon in pitcher with ice and glasses already set out, healthier cookies (oatmeal). We walked around the grounds, enjoyed nature during a break. You could end with a nice pampering of a bath, self-pedicure or facial. Sounds great!! (I might have to do this on a weekly basis, actually!)
