Of course, anxiety can be treated with other things, mostly talk therapy and learning relaxation techniques. The biggest concern about taking medication for anxiety is that when you take it, you can become dependent on it. For example, you are afraid to fly so before a flight, you take medications and you are still anxious but you make it through it. Wouldn't it be better to work on the fear of flying and the underlinning problem there. Medication does not solve a problem. For most people, it lets you relax enough so you can start to solve your own problems. Most people do not use medication this way, they take it and forget the other stuff that needs to be done.

Do not stop taking your medication without a doctor's approval. If your doctor prescribed medication to you, then they need to unscribe it. Remember that doctors make their money off of prescribing medications so it is in their best interest to have you stay on it. I would hope that everyone has alturistic doctors out there, but cannot guarantee that one.

Hope this post helps Tina,
