I am more than 2 yrs out from hip replacement. I am days away from my 50th birthday and I will say that it does get better! Nothing will be as it was, but you probably are not in the pain that you were before the replacement are you? My replacement leg is now a lil' bit longer than the other leg which makes caring a full cup of coffee a belly laugh ; } Like other events in your life, you must find a new normal. Following your doc's recommendations is smart,following your bodies signs is smarter! Push yourself carefully,don't take this phase in your life too seriously and DO NOT let "the blues" rule your days. Take your pain pills as long as you need to,throw a smile on your mug and Thank God you woke up this morning ; }
