Over 4 months ago I had my pap done at Planned Parenthood. The test came back positive for HPV and there was a bump (which I had to point out to the Nurse Practitioner) and she visually diagnosed it as what she thought might be a wart. She treated it, it went away, came back, and has been gone for about 2 months now. I don't know if I still have anything or not.. Any way to tell? Also, am I still at risk for spreading anything if I have no outbreak and have protected sex?

Hello, well i just found out that i have hpv 16 and i am almost sure i gave it to my partner since we have been having sex without any protection for months. i haven't gotten any warts or symptoms. i want to know what my partner can do to be healthy. since there's no test for a guy it makes it harder for us. I recently got the gardasil shot which was after i got hpv 16and had sex with the guy i possibly given it to a day after. So my questions are: 1) will having sex with him conflict with the gardasil and recovering process? 2)so if my test come up negative before his can we still have sex with each other without him giving it to me? 3) if i continue having sex with him will we be passing it back and forth? 4) is drinking and smoking cigs that harmful to the recovery process? 5) can he get blood work somewhere to know for sure if he has it?

Hi dancer1234,
You need to discuss with your heath care physician any concerns you have regarding your new medication. He can get blood work done from his doctor. If you are not sure if he does have HPV, you need to use protection to avoid getting any STD's.

Hi Anon,
Welcome to EmpowHER. If you have genital warts and have protected sex. It's unlikely, you will spread hpv to your partner. It's important to discuss with your doctor.
Best,
Daisy
