Hi, I had unprotected sex the very next day my last period (mensis) ended. I took 4 white pills of Famila-28 within 120 hrs & 2 white pills 12 hrs later instead of 4 . Normally, My next period had to start after 22, 23 days of the last period, but it started on the 12th day. I want to ask that, if its ok ? B,cause, its the first time I have used birth control pills (Famila-28), & I m very upset about that. Plz reply me as soon as possible !

Hi Anonymous,

If your period started before it was due then this is likely due to taking the Familia-28 pills as contraceptives. Please keep an eye out for your next period, which could arrive 23 days after the 12th or go back to your normal date.

Good Luck,

Rosa

Hi Jaweria,

I am not very familiar with Famila-28 tablets. This is the information I found on it: Famila-28 is a progestin-estrogen combined oral contraceptive used for EC. Note that many combined pill packs have reminder pills with no hormones at the end; only the active pills can be used as emergency contraception. Check your package insert to determine which are the active pills.

You take 4 pills within 120 hours after unprotected sex and 4 more pills 12 hours later. Each dose contains 0.6 mg of levonorgestrel and 120 mg of ethinyl estradiol.

You may have taken way too many pills if you are still taking them, please consult with your doctor to see what s/he thinks you should do about the over-consumption of these pills.

Please keep us posted,

Rosa

Dear Rosa,

My wife has used Famila 28 starting from 10 March to 10 April, but she check via Pregnancy stick and found pregnant, now can we use Famila 28 or Arthrotec 50, kindly advise. thanks

Hello.

If her test (stick) was positive this indicates she is pregnant, so there would no longer be a need for birth control. As for Arthrotec 50, this is what the drug precautions say:
This medication must not be used during pregnancy. It may harm the mother and unborn baby. Use reliable forms of birth control to prevent pregnancy while taking this medication and for at least one month or one completed menstrual cycle after stopping treatment. If you become pregnant or think you may be pregnant, tell your doctor right away.
