Does anyone have any experience using the HCG Weight Loss plan?

I've just met with my doctor about my weight gain. Last year about this time, I went into menopause. I stopped having my period, stopped sleeping through the night, lost a lot of hair, my skin went dry, I noticed patches of brown spots appearing on my face and hands, I lost my interest in intimacy with my husband, I forgot simple things like "why did I walk into this room again?", I was irritable, and I gained about 20 pounds! It was about this time that I read a book by Suzanne Somers called "Breakthrough: Eight Steps to Wellness." She talked about using bio-identical hormone replacement therapy and in a rhythmic dosage rather than a static dosage. I talked to my doctor about it and she prescribed an estriol cream to be taken vaginally 1-2x per week as needed, and a progesterone cream to be taken for two weeks on and two weeks off. She also prescribed melatonin and 5htp to help me sleep. I'd also read about L-Arginine to help with hot flashes. Those things helped but didn't fully alleviate my symptoms so I kept doing research on menopause and it's symptoms. I found a method of dosage and delivery for bio-identical hormone replacement therapy called The Wiley Protocol and asked my doctor about it. She had JUST heard about it herself. So, we agreed to embark on the adventure of trying it to help me. So far it's worked to alleviate all of my symptoms with the exception of my WEIGHT! ARg.

So, I went through the same steps of research and found a hormone called HCG for weight loss, did my homework and learned that my own doctor prescribes it! Thus, starting tomorrow, I will be injecting myself with this hormone that is only produced by pregnant women. Ironically, two other women in my office are also starting this very weight loss plan this week. I'm just looking for others online who have had experience with this and what they have to say about it.

Hi,
I am 57 years old on my second round of HCG and also have hypothyroidism and have experienced the same symptoms of menopause as you pointed out. The hardest to deal with is feeling like a word will not come to mind or walking into a room and not remembering why you did. My mind is usually sharp and my memory like a file cabinet. I have successfully and easily lost weight on the HCG diet where before I could not get my weight to budge. I am very active even though I am over 250 pounds (we have a 30 acre horse farm). OBGYN history reflects an ectopic pregnancy at the age of 28 causing the right Fallopian tube to be removed. No other pregnancies occurred. The past 2 days I am experiencing menstrual pains as if I am going to have a period. I also experienced mittelschmertz (ovulation) a couple weeks ago. Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this same problem. Katherine

Hey there, I to have recently gone through menopause. Started last July 2014 when I turned 53. I have gained 25 pounds and have horrible hot flashes and night sweats. No mood swings or irritability however some depression due to the weight gain. Any who, I've been seen by a Dr. and I'm embarking on the HCG diet plan tomorrow March 1st 2015. I'm using the injections vs the drops.....was told the drops are not as effective. Anyone else used this method of dieting and if so be willing to tell about your journey? I'm hoping that the HCG will help with my embarrassing hot flashes. You know you have bad hot flashes when your eye glasses steam up lol.....just sayin. :-) Tam

Tam, I did the injections too. I honestly thought HCG was a bunch oh hooey, but I was despearate, so I tried it for weight loss. It stopped my hot flashes cold turkey but they returned after about 4 months. I have tried everything under the sun for the hot flashes with no luck. I had a friend tell me about Claratin (yes, the allergy medicine) and it has reduced my hot flashes by 50-60%. I'm sticking with it.

Good luck with the diet. I'm 5'5", starting weight was 149, and I got down to 129. 23 day plan.

Your post was last February. Have you kept your weight off? Do you still take any injections?

I started the HCG diet 7/2014 I've done a 40 day round and then a 26 day round and am on day 21 of my third round. I've lost 50 lbs. so far, maintained between rounds well, no gains. I love it, and all my menopausal symptoms have gone away, no night sweats, no hot flashes and I can sleep. Make sure you're healthy but to me it's been life changing in a positive way.

If you are purchasing HCG without a prescription it is NOT HCG. True HCG has to be prescribed by a licensed physician. You are taking a homeopathic remedy or a placebo. But it's not HCG.

I have never purchased HCG with a prescription and have always lost over 25lbs with each Round. Of course I've known about the HCG diet for over 15 years when most never did. When the Diet industry realized it really worked and got involved, that's when all hell broke out, now you have drops, pallets creams none of which was on the protocol created by the original creator Dr Simons in the early 1950's. With that said no, you don't need a prescription nor do you need to pay the high prices that these doctors and clinics that has popped up every where scaring people into believing it won't work unless you under a physicians care. They said simply for profit reasons. Now that the money grabbers if the Diet industry is involved, you are more likely to get a placebo or some rogue mixed version of Hcg through clinics, drops, pallets and cream than if you take the time to do your own research, read the ORIGINAL DIET by the late Dr Simons and find a reputable online pharmacy. There is a Forum called Hcg Diet Info that has been around since 2007. On there, is thousands of people who are following the original Dr Simeons HCG Protocol with the so called Dr supervision that's supposedly needed and is having great success using HCG the natural original way.
