I am 5 weeks at 4 days pregnant. at 4 weeks at 5 days my hcg levels were 1296, then almost a week later they dropped to 1000. I have had a little brown spotting, not even enough to get on my underwear. But other than that no bleeding. Will i definitely miscarry? Has anyone else had a 300 point drop and still carried a healthy baby?

What happened in your situation? I am having the exact thing happen to me. I'm hoping I'm just too early to see the baby and that my hcg level picks back up

I just have a question for any lady that might have gone through natural miscarriage , did everything go OK ? I was 9 wks 2wks ago and that is when the heart beat stopped. Am I too far to try and let it happen naturally my hgc level was at 3,231 and I haven't started spotting and no cramping right now.Can any one tell me their experience. Thank you.

Hi I was wondering what your outcome was??? I am in the same situation and am heartbroken. I am 6 weeks this Sat and my hcg dropped from 2300 to 2200, The u/s showed the sac but no pole? I am getting 3 more draws over the weekend but the doctor told me he was certain I was going to m/c! Sooooo confused since I have had zero bleeding!

ok question for me im on birth control and its a low dose and family history shows tht women in our family birth control doesn't always help prevent pregnancy and my cycles have been normal til last month and it was too light and im usually a normal flow and mood changes and eating weird are huge for me not to mention tender breasts and sex drive being zero and not being able to sleep. i took two tests one came back blank the other negative and these are home tests. any idea wut maybe going on?

the spotting has been very very light. Its just the Hcg levels mainly everything else is fairly normal

from the research i have done spotting is normal but if its heavy chances are either the placenta tore from the wall or miscarriage

Hi polkadot,

Was your OB concerned with the drop in HCG levels? What did s/he say? At 5 weeks, you are still within the normal range [18-7,340]. One thing I read in AmericanPregnancy.org is "Caution must be used in making too much of hCG numbers. A normal pregnancy may have low hCG levels and result in a perfectly healthy baby. The results from an ultrasound after 5 - 6 weeks gestation are much more accurate than using hCG numbers."

Try not to worry too much about these numbers-- it's not good to add stress to your little one during pregnancy, be happy-- think positive and take good care of yourself :)

Here's the chart for future reference:
3 weeks LMP: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
4 weeks LMP: 5 - 426 mIU/ml
5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml
6 weeks LMP: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml
7 - 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml
9 - 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml
13 - 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
17 - 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml
25 - 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml
Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml

Wishing you the best,

Rosa

I didnt get to talk to my OB because he was in surgery all day but his nurse said a 300 point drop would likely be a miscarriage. Im just hoping and praying that maybe she is wrong.
