All boils are caused by staph (what you are referring to as "staff") bacteria. Of course it was positive. Normally staphylococcus aureus (staph for short) bacteria lives harmlessly on our skin, but causes problems if it enters through a cut or other opening, or gets pushed down into a hair follicle (which is what happens when a boil forms). Testing a boil for staph isn't protocol because it's a duh.

Hi,
October 12, 2015 - 5:25pmWhere do you go to get the boil tested? I get them on my thighs, and lower, as well as under my breasts and now in the armpits.
Thanks,
JG in NJ

I had the same problem. For 30 years I suffered from frequent, recurrent boils in my panty line, under my breasts and sometimes in my armpits. I could never get an answer as to what was causing them. I never had them lanced (I couldn't let them near me with the scalpel). I had many rounds of antibiotics over the years as, from time to time, mine tested positive for staph. And, after all of this suffering, I finally know what's causing them.... I was tested by my Naturopath for food sensitivities. I was positive for problems with wheat, dairy and eggs. When I eliminate these foods for more than a month, this lifelong problem totally disappears! When I'm stupid enough to let any one of these ingredients back into my diet, WHAM! I'm hit with them again! IMHO, it appears to be an immune system response. Get yourself tested, then avoid those things you test sensitive to like the plague for a month, see what happens. You might just find your answer!
And, BTW, I always thought I would die from a staph infection... Now I don't have to worry about THAT problem anymore! And, FYI, antidepressants make this problem 100 times worse!

Have any of you been checked for MRSA infection? MRSA in the form of "boils" love to hang out in the groin, armpit, nose, and buttocks area. It's a mild infection of the skin, but should definately be treated by a physician and cultured. The boils will reoccur for years, unless you treat and "try" to erradicate the bacteria from your body.
Plus MRSA is contagious and can get much worse.

Use the Neutrogena Acne wash to get rid of it but try to incorporate that into your daily regimen when washing because they do come back but you can minimize the severity using Neutrogena everyday. Also, Echinacea-goldenseal is good too. Combined together they should keep you boil free!

I started using a facial cleanser that had acne medicine in it. It cleans out poors and has medicine to treat and prevent acne. I know that boils are caused from oil and dirt in a clogged pours. So everyday while in the shower I would wash my inner thighs with it and after a week or 2 I had smooth healthy looking inner thighs plus no boils. I used Neutrogena oil-free acne wash. It's orange. It's a bit pricey at $12 for a 6oz bottle but it does last a few months. More importantly it solves my boil problem. It's very potent so once a day is plenty. If you have a bad break out of boils then I would do twice a day for a week then back to once a day. Plus wash while in the hot shower your pours are open. You can just add that to part of your shower routine.

I'm going to try this because I have that cleanser. I did not like it for my face but I'm going to try it on my inner thighs and buttocks. I am obese so I'm sure that's the problem.
