I seen to have gas problems. The gas seems to push liquidy matter forward near my vagina. I took a look with a mirror and it seems this matter may be coming from the opening of my vagina, not deep in the vagina but near the opening. How am I going to discuss this with my make doctor? Am I at risk? I am scared and worried.
Thank you for any comments.

I am freaked out. I have an appt. with a surgeon on Mon. I just started the job I am in Nov 2010, so I worry about keeping my job. I need surgery, which scares me silly. This is the first major anything concerning my health. This fistula thing is not pleasant. Thank you for listening (reading) my concerns.

How was your appointment with the surgeon this past Monday? Were you able to talk about your fears and concerns?

Yes, the doctor was most calming. I am having a biopsy tomorrow as a prelude to dealing with the fistula. I can deal with the uc, but the fistula offends my sense of tidiness. As a result, I can not wait to have it repaired. I am hoping this will be out patient surgery, with no major drama.

I am not understanding your question.

Your doctors said you have uc. I'm not sure what this is...are you referring to urethrocutaneous as "uc"?

You said you do not have any fistulas, and I am not sure why you still think you do? What symptoms are you having?

I'm not quite clear on your gas problems, and the association with the liquid near your vagina. Every woman has vaginal secretions throughout her cycle, and this "liquid" is called "cervical mucus". The "CM" can be more liquid-like, it can be thicker; it can be white or egg-white in color. This is all normal.

The gas problem you have: are you using any type of over-the-counter medicine to see if it helps? Are you aware of any triggers (diet, primarily)?

I'm wondering if these are two separate concerns that you have, and if you did not know that it is normal to have "liquid" come from your vagina (as long as it is odorless). If this is the case, then you can just concentrate on learning what causes your gastrointestinal distress, and stay away from certain foods, lessen your stress, etc.

Sorry, I was not clear. I have ulcerative colitis. I now know I have a rectal-vaginal fistula. I had to go to the ER on Sat. 1/8. There they did a barium emenia--talk about not nice! I was not clear because I have a hard time discussing such issues.

Hi Barbara,
I'm sorry to hear that you had to go to the E.R. this past weekend. How are you doing now?
