It's a mix of brown and reddish when it wipe my self. Today I woke up and seen a small stain in my underwear of brownish red discharge. of I took 2 EC pills last month and I am currently on birth control since August never missed a pill. I have a pad on but I don't have anymore discharge this morning. When I wipe sometimes. Should I be worried? Was this brown discharge spotting my period.?Also yesterday when I wiped my self I seen brown and reddish discharge.

Thank you for for answer. I'm 22 years old. Well last month I remember that I started on the 20th of December with brown discharge it was the first pill of my third week on a Saturday until I think Tuesday the 23rd I started having bright red blood. I'm just worried now because it's only been brown on Wednesday it was reddish brown I thought it stopped yesterday then it continued. I'm afraid of not greeting a period. Or could this be it because it it dark brown.

Hello Marrie, and thank you for sharing you question with the community.

Brown, or reddish discharge is a normal part of the menstrual cycle and can occur any time before, during or after your period.  It is nothing to worry about.  In order to know how it relates to your period however, I would need to know when you are expecting to get your period.

You did not mention your age, but I think it is important to note that during adolescent years, the body is still trying to reach a hormonal balance and irregularities are to be expected.

Let us know if you have any more concerns or questions.
