Well, recently I started working out 5 to 6 times a week. Considering the fact that I like to save money and conserve the environment as much as possible, I wondered.....Is it okay to wear my work out clothes twice (alternating days, not two days in a row) before washing? I sweat profusely when I work out so I was just curious to know if its healthy for my skin. Will I break out if I'm prone to them? Will I smell? Yikes! :-) Thanks in advance.

I usually work out 5-6 days a week and wear only moisture wicking clothes. The shirts actually absorb sweat better than cotton so they pick up the smell faster. I tend to wear bras and shirts only once and shorts twice. I have purchased several bras and shirts so I only have to do laundry once a week for work out clothes. I also buy them as rewards for keeping up with my workouts since they are expensive. I can tell you, though, once you switch to the wicking, you may never return to cotton.

Hey Steph, have you tried moisture wicking workout clothes. They allegedly help pull moisture (read: sweat) away from the body and the clothes and dry out pretty quickly. It might be worth buying one work out outfit made from this fabric to see if it works for you. Just a thought.

Hi Stephanie,
Although I am not sure if it will absolutely cause your skin to break out-- it may. And it will definitely become a hygiene problem since you mention sweating profusely. What you can do is invest in an environment friendly soap and wash your clothes by hand then hang to dry. That way, you get all that dirt and sweat off of it and you can re-use it later on in the week without feeling dirty and while still helping the environment.
I hope this idea helps.
