I take Gynera which is a combination pill with 21 in a pack (no placebo pills). I’m very good at taking my pills and I only forgot to take them twice in the near two years since I have been on them (this was in the early stage and I wasn’t having sex then)
My boyfriend and I had sex on January 1st and we also used condoms and he pulled out when he came, which was once. I was in the early stages of a pill pack then (day 7 or so). I then finished that pack and almost immediately after my period started. Like, I had the last pill on the Saturday and by Sunday night/early Monday morning I had bleeding. I found this strange as normally while on the pill, my period always comes on a Tuesday after finishing the pack. I think maybe it came so early because I had taken three pill packs consecutively before, due to having exams at university and not wanting the stress of periods. This was the third pack that I finished then. The last period I had before the one in January was in early November. I then took the three pill packs one after the other from then until mid January.
I was still nervous about pregnancy so I took a test on the 28th and it was negative.
I started another pill pack on January 21st and I finished it this past Saturday (Feb 10th). However it is now Tuesday nearly Wednesday and my period hasn’t come yet. My stomach has the light cramp feelings that I normally get, but no blood. I’m scared despite having withdrawal bleeding after that last pack, I could’ve possibly gotten pregnant. Was it too early to take the test when I did? It was about 3 nearly 4 weeks after when we had sex when I took it.
My boyfriend said that we used enough protection against pregnancy but I can’t help but worry. Why hasn’t my period come?

Susan, I have a similar question. My boyfriend and I have sex frequently, but I am on the combination pill which I take every day at 9, maybe an hour before or after if need be. We also use condoms and he pulls out before ejaculation. I took my last active pill Saturday and I usually get my period Sunday or Monday, but I just had some light spotting on Sunday and nothing else. No other symptoms of anything. I also am new to taking these pills and I bleed for the entire second week of pills, so I bled 2 weeks ago. Am I having a lot of anxiety about being pregnant even though we do everything to prevent it. I have had a lot of stress recently as well.

There is virtually no way you can get pregnant, taking the precautions you do. You need to relax and enjoy sex a bit more!
Some women get very light periods while on the Pill and some end up with none at all. The longer you are on it, the more likely you are to have very light periods.
A pregnancy test will ease you mind. A bit of anxiety is normal but keep taking your pills as prescribed and trust yourself and your birth control!

Thank you for writing.
You have been changing up your usage of the Pill over the past few months to avoid periods. Now that you are back to having a 7 day break, your period (breakthrough bleeding) is likely adjusting.
You can take a test to confirm this but it'll likely be negative. Give yourself a few days and don't stress so much - you're doing everything you can to prevent pregnancy; it'd be a near miracle if you got pregnant! Stress can change the menstrual cycle, even when you're on the Pill.

Thanks for the information. I don't think I'm going to take my pills consecutively for so long in the future.
