Im 29, take the 21 day combined pill and have been for 11 years. I carried on last months pack with no break, i am usually really good with taking my pill, the odd times i have pissed a pill...been sick etc but have always been okay and always come on the same day. i take the pill every morning around half 8-9, with this months pack I have missed day 14 and 15, on day 16 i panicked and took 3 pills, I had sexual intercourse on day 16 in the morning in which after i bled for the day but stopped bleeding after and had sexual intercourse two days after which would be day 18 late at night. I took a test wednesday just gone and showed negative but i know this can be too early. i have carried on my pill since then and have been told to not have a break and continue onto my next pack. i am extremely worried as do not want to become pregnant. Is there anything you can say that may put my mind at rest or is it just waiting to take another test?

Hello Anon

If you took your missed pills on the third day and continued to take pills, your likelihood of pregnancy is very low but not impossible. You can keep taking your pills and stop for the 7 day break as long as you use a condoms OR once you have been taking your pills for 7 days in row- whichever comes first. If your doctor or pharmacist told you not to take a break, take their advice but it won't make a difference, really, at this stage.
We can't guarantee you get pregnant but in future, don't have sex without a condom when this happens. My educated guess will be that you won't get pregnant but there is a minor risk - but very minor.
Best,
Susan

Thank you Susan really appreciate your reply. This will teach me to be more careful with my pills.
