Me and my boyfriend used the withdrawal method last month on the 10th and or 11th of september, and my period came on the 17th september, but a week later i took a pregnancy test to be on the safe side of things. Then, this month me and my boyfriend use the same method again, and we did it on the late saturday night which was the 2nd of october and then the morning of the 3rd of october which was the sunday, everything was fine until a few days to a week before my period, and i started to feel bloated, a few pains like period pains, headaches every so often, moodswings and the urge to eat more but then my period hasnt actually come, ive heard the chances are higher of getting preganant if you are young - which i am. Ive been watching my periods since August and if you count from the 1st day of my period to the day before my next period that happened its 24 days. So i was due on the 11th of this month, which is October, but it hasnt come, so im now round about 2 days late, and i took a pregnancy test on what will be the 3rd day, which says on the instructions that you can take the test the day you miss your period and there on after and the test came up with a negative. Now, i have also been quite emotional, now people say there can be several reasons why you dont have your period, but ive never missed one due to stress or anything else, so this is my first missed period. And im not sure if maybe i took the test too early, or if i am pregnant, or if i have missed my period due to my boyfriend being on holiday abroad for a week, without much contact - causing stress, and worrying. Please can you help, with the chances if i am or not ?

Hi worriedgirl,
Thanks for your question and for finding EmpowHER. There is a risk of pregnancy when using the withdrawal method. It is not a very reliable method. However, that being said, pregnancy tests are pretty accurate after a missed period. It is more accurate if you wait a week after a missed period, but I understand it may be hard to wait that long. If you don't get your period in the next week, take another test so you know if you are late or missing your period, or if you're really pregnant. It is not uncommon for adolescent women to skip periods sometimes. If you go 90 days without a period, call your doctor.
