What would cause a couple toes with no feeling plus one hand has several spots of no feeling. I searched but nothing sounds right for me.. I'm not diabetic and aside from several pain syndromes such as fibro, lower back pain, spondylosis, cervical disc degeneration, lumbar disc degeneration, etc so I have a lot of pain daily, I'm in good health. Any ideas?

Thank you for the information. I had thought I should see someone about my spine to prevent it from getting worse so I will bring this up to my doctor.

Thank you,
Hoots

Hi Hootie

The toe numbness can be caused by lumbar DDD, and the hand by cervical DDD. The same issues that cause pain can cause numbness. It indicates pressure on nerves and if it remains or progresses it may become permanent.

Do you have a spine doc, whether ortho or neuro? I would report these new symptoms so they can rule out progressing spine issues or instability.

I'm linking you to an image of dermatomes: http://images.emedicinehealth.com/images/eMedicine/dermatomes.jpg, Dermatomes are a sort of map of what areas each spinal nerve innervates. You can look at the image, see for example which toes are numb, and get a general idea of which spinal nerve may be involved. It is a good way to help understand your spine issues.

Please discuss your new symptoms with your spine doc to prevent permanent nerve damage.

Thank you for writing, and if I can help further, please let me know.
