Q:

Pregnant?

Hi.
My period is about 5-6 hours late and I feel like i'm going to burst!!
I'm on the pill. During the first week of my pills I went to holiday in greece where we were going to stay for 2 weeks. The problem is, that during that first week I got a stomach virus which lead to me having severe diarrhea for 3 days.
I did take all of my pills, although I'm not sure that they have worked. When I got back home me and my boyfriend had sex once with a condom.

Afterwards I went to check if it broke, and it didn't. But I'm scared that while doing so, i might have gotten sperm on my fingers, and maybe I've accidentally inserted it in my vagine while wiping myself or something.. I didn't take an emergency-pill, because I thought that my fears were completely irrational.
We only had sex that one time during this cycle.
Today I had a little bit of blood, but it only lasted a couple of minutes.. and then it didn't return. But now my period is a few hours late, and I have no idea what to do. I'm supposed to start in Uni in 2 weeks..

Hi. Thanks for your answers. I got it earlier today:)
Turns out I was panicking, and the stress probably delayed my period :)

Hi Boggus,
Thanks for your question. I agree with Cary. It is highly unlikely that you are pregnant if what you say happened is accurate. Stress can do a number on your cycle, so try and stay calm. I used to skip periods when I was your age. Particularly when I was stressed or sometimes during the summer. Especially since you are on the pill (assuming you usually are good about taking it regularly), and used a backup method, you were being safe and you should not be pregnant.
Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

Hello Boggus

Why would you think your pills didn't work? Were you taking antibiotics?

It sounds like you used protection, so I'm not sure how you would be pregnant. As far as being hours late, you can't really expect your menstrual cycle to be on the dot within hours. Your body has a clock, but it doesn't really work that way. It sounds like you are starting already, and just stressed out.

Unless something else happened that you didn't include in your question, it seems unlikely that you would be pregnant. Thank you for writing, and good luck at Uni.
