See a doctor, get an ultrasound test done to see if you have reflux in the veins and measure the width of the veins. They do this to see if you qualify for venus closure operation. If you do, it is covered by insurance, after your co-pay. This simple operation eliminates the veins with leaky valves for good. Within weeks better circulation will occur and the bad veins cannot return. They will make you wear compression stocking for 3 months before you can deal with the surgeon but don't be put-off by this. All insurance companies require this and it will not make any difference except that you have to wait to get to the next step. I just went thru this testing and have the stockings, but I have to wait to do the operation. I have a close friend that did the operatoin and she is very happy with the results. This condition will not go away on its own and so it needs to be treated if you are to continue working on your feet like that.

Anon,
Doctors should not suggest that you stop working because of varicose veins. Many women get Varicose veins from standing-- but doctors should not suggest that you stop working as they know you need money to survive. I think your co-worker should seek another opinion from a doctor who realizes that people need to work and can't just quit based on their varicose veins.
