Two periods in one month.

On August 7th I got my period which was not a normal period. This one was very light, more brownish color blood, and last about 5 day. I have now just started another cycle. Bright red blood, heavier than the last, but not my normal flow. I do have a history of cysts on my ovaries. Two have ruptured. The second one ruptured about two months ago. I am not on any birth control and have had sex. I did take a pregnancy test last night and it came back negative. Any thoughts?

Gracie,

Ovarian cysts are likely to cause irregular periods. Some missed, some heavy, some light. I don't think it's pregnancy, especially if you recently took a pregnancy test. But I do think you should inform you doctor on your next visit, just to make sure no new cysts are starting to reemerge or still there. If you begin to feel symptoms of pregnancy, nausea, cravings, altered sense of smell, tender breasts, then retesting may be a good idea. I hope this helps.
