My period is extremely regular it comes every month the exact time it's suposed too. But get extremely bad cramps to the point I can't feel like legs and I just pass put or throw up I use to take Advil for them they would go away for a bit then come back. Advil stopped helping so I started using Aleve that worked for a bit then stopped so I went to the doctor but sense I'm under 21 (only 19 about to be 20) they won't check any of it they instantly just try to put me on different forms of birth control ice tried birth control all it did was make my periods when I wanted them to be. It didn't take away the cramping. They gave me some pain medication and it helped for 2 or 3 months then stopped. I went on vacation last month and knew I was going to start my period the last 2 days I was there I woke up with unbearable cramps at 4 in the morning and cried I tried everything a hotpad my medication taking a warm bath nothing helping I lost feeling in my arms and legs and that just made me cry more my mother just about took me to the hospital cuz she's never seem me this bad before. I ended up crying myself to sleep around 6 am and when I woke up my cramps were very faint and I had a lot of discomfort and horrible shakes I couldn't eat I could barely drink water. I ended up going to the pool later that night my periods are normally really heavy bleeding but this one wasn't I didn't think much of it and after the first few hours I had stopped bleeding. Unless I wiped the bleeding only lasted maybe 2 or 3 days but it was little to non at all and then this months period started and I have horrible cramps but not as bad as that time but I barely have any bleeding and I feel like something is wrong I don't know what it could be and I don't want to waste more money going to the doctor when they just tell me that's a period and try to put me on birthcontol and pain meds that don't work. I even tried going to a specialist that I was told by a friend that was amazing but they didn't even look at me they just tried putting me on birthcontol and gave me pain meds when I told them no. What's wrong with me? Can someone please push me in the right direction?

Hi, Tex221.

Thank you for your message.

I'm not sure what you mean by, doctors won't look at you? They just give you BC and pain medication. You need to have a pelvic exam and a Pap test. That's fairly standard practice when going to a GYN. You are 19, about to be 20. That's not underage for a doctor to check you. So, I'm not clear on why all that is happening. But if this is the case, have your mother go with you and insist you be checked properly and tests are taken (an ultrasound, etc.,) if deemed necessary. There is nothing wrong with taking pain medication if you need it, and BC can sometimes help with menstrual cycle issues. But at the very least, you need to feel you have been examined and taken seriously. Stress and anxiety over this can make the pain and discomfort worse, and certainly is not helping the situation, so that may need to be addressed as well.

they said they wouldn't give me a pap test or pelvic exam until I'm 21 I asked if there was an way they would make an exception and the doctor said the only way they would do that is if something was seriously wrong. They didn't take any of it very serious and neither did my normal doctor they just acted like I was over reacting and tried to give me BC and pain meds

Hi,

I have never heard of such a thing at your age. Try another doctor or contact a Planned Parenthood, a doctor there will see you.
