Coumadin is nasty stuff try to get something else. It won't help AF it is just a blood thinner with the "hope" of reducing a stroke. in my opinion aspirin is just as effective.
I take a blood pressure med that reduces the heart rate.
When I get AF I figure it won't kill me, not today, sure there is a risk. So knowing this I am not so anxious. The first thing I do is take a Bayer aspirin, 325mg? Not the baby one. Then I take an anxiety pill and try to sleep or at least stop moving. I don't work but I do have an active life so this is not always possible. When it's over (between 4 and 12 hours) I just go back to my normal activity and try not to think about it. It is out of my control. I pray a lot :-)
I try to sneeze. They say that helps.
I want the abilation surgery but Kaiser won't agree. I hear it is 99% effective. The procedure is like an angiogram. A wire in the leg to your heart that cauterizes the bad spot. I am 68 very healthy and active.
