Loss of a loved one to cancer.. Join this Group

How are you dealing with the loss of a loved one?

I lost my nephew to cancer almost three years ago, he was only 13. It hasn't been easy and on my saddest days I think of him and smile (through the tears at times). We were so blessed to have him in our lives even if it was for a short period of time. I know we all grieve differently, but how do you cope with the pain, loss, loneliness or sadness?

Hi tater96,
Sorry about your grandmother. Your right looking at home movies and pictures do help. It's hard during the holidays because all the family is around but that one special person is missing and everyone feels the sadness but nobody wants to talk about it. We've gotten better about taking about my nephew and remembering the good times we had and shared together and it does help all of us through the healing process. We sit around and tell all the funny things he did and start to laugh about it, I think that's what we need to remember not all the suffering he went through as he battled cancer. I hope you smile too when you think of your grandmother. Thanks for sharing with me :)

Angelica ;
about a year ago i lost my grandmother due to cancer, i was only 14 it was very hard. i still cry once in awhile but i coped through the pain by looking through old photos, watching home videos, and even talking about the great times we had with her to my family. sometimes it helps to just sit there and let out all your tears. this helped me, and i hope it helps you too.
