Having a long distance relationship last depends solely on the people. As the female, you have to get it in your mind that the relationship will not last if neither one of you is willing to move closer to the other one. It's a terrible realization to come to, but it's true. If neither one of you are willing to move, then you need to stay in the relationship understanding that it's just for fun or to pass the time.
I am currently in a long distance relationship and it is not easy at all. Everytime he leaves to go back home I just cry like a baby. He is only 185 miles away, but without a car that seems like a lifetime away from me. I had to have the same type of conversation with him when I first moved away. He was not happy at all and thought I was trying to desert him. I just explained that it was the best decision for me and I could make a much better life for myself and my children by leaving. Reluctantly he said ok. I then explained that I knew I was never going back to live in NJ and that if he did not think PA was a good choice for him we had to talk. Either he could figure out a place other than NJ that we could both move to together, or he could eventually move to PA with me, or we were gonna inevitably break up. I told him that he didn't have to move right now, but I needed him to realize that we weren't going to make it living that far apart forever. Well now he is looking for jobs where I live, so I feel like maybe I did something right after all. Let me know how the situation goes for you!November 28, 2011 - 7:54pm
