I got trigeminal neuralgia when I was 8 months pregnant and although my neurolgist said it was not related to the pregnancy, I feel it may have been due to my excessive weight gain (80lbs). It`s been a year and a half since I had my son and not only have I lost that 80 lbs but I have lost an additional 18lbs on top of that and my trigeminal neuralgia is almost gone. I have cut my Carbamazepine from 600 mgs down to 100mgs and I still feel a slight shock in my face and teeth occasionally but nothing like the dibaliting pain I was having before. So what I would like to know is, was the trigeminal neuralgia due to the weight gain (possibly a blood vessle pushing on the nerve) and how long will it take for the nerve to fully repair itself or will it ever fully repair and also, if I get pregnant again ,do I run the risk of it comming back.
I really appreciate any input. Thank you.
