Felicia Cosman, MD is the Medical Director at the Clinical Research Center of Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw, NY. She graduated from Cornell University with distinction and Stony Brook Medical School with a postgraduate nomination to AOA. She completed her internal medicine training and endocrinology fellowship at Columbia Presbyterian. She is also Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University. She has studied the causes of osteoporosis and how various treatments work for osteoporosis. Her major research focus is in use of teriparatide, in combination with antiresorptive agents, and in novel cyclic regimens, in treatment of osteoporosis. Dr. Cosman has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in journals including NEJM, Lancet, and AIM. She is author of What Your Doctor May Not Tell You about Osteoporosis (Warner) and coeditor of Osteoporosis: An Evidence Based Approach to the Prevention of Fractures (ACP). Dr. Cosman has been NOF Clinical Director since 1996 and a Castle-Connolly Top Doctor from 2000 through 2008.
