Carolyn Beam
I received my undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University in 2004 (Go Deacs!) and am currently a Ph.D. candidate in genetics and molecular biology at Emory University here in Atlanta, GA. In our lab, we study cell division and growth control in the fruit fly, with the long-term goal of finding and characterizing novel human tumor suppressor genes.
I am a member of the American Medical Writers Association and recently started my freelance medical writing company, Beam Medical Communications, LLC. I plan to write full time upon completion of my Ph.D. in Fall 2009.
In our spare time, my husband and I like to run, bike, and play with our dog. We have trained for and run four marathons together and are both strong advocates for physical fitness and public health!
