This Beaumont, Texas native is on a journey. Donica’s quest is a by-product of having to come to grips with her own health problems, including living with migraines, a debilitating neurological disorder. These health issues guided her to want to help women maneuver the often murky waters of the health care system. “I’ve been in situations myself where I haven’t had health insurance, amounting to medical debt, or having to place my health care needs on hold,” says the certified health education specialist. “Our health is based on access, and many health disparities are created for those who don’t have it; especially among women of color.”
