I was diagnosed with fibroids at 24. I had a couple of small ones and my doctor said to wait it out. I did and went to see another doctor about 4 years later. They had grew and Myomectomy or hysterectomy was suggested. I took Lupron (6 month dose) to have the myomectomy but I bled for 4 months straight, even with the added hormone therapy. Since I still continued to bleed, I did not have the surgery. I stopped eating meat (only seafood), changed a few things I ate, and exercised more; that helped a little by decreasing my period days from 19 to 12. I am now 32 and I have 5 that they can see, one being a little over 7cm. My doctor also thinks I may have endometriosis. I am currently looking for other options because I have not had children yet. As a dance teacher and very active at church, period days are hard, overwhelming, and frustrating.
