Holy crap! I'm only 58, quite health conscious, and was a practicing Health Educator (MPH) for 28 years! Well, got the shocking Dx in March following Dx of pneumonia. See a plumonologist next week, concerned may actually have IPF or pulmonary fibrosis (PF), as if COPD isn't dreadful enough. Was coughing constantly for about 15 mos., thought was allergies, went to doc about 6 months into it and got meds--did not help. Very stressed out, I was managing a major remodel & we were living in our home during all the dust & commotion--very bad idea as it turns out. As for PF, my symptoms seem to allign more with this, I have a dry cough--never productive, constant pressure on chest, some wheezing, and tiredness. Guess I'm fairly early stage for COPD but with PF it doesn't seem that it matters much as you can die pretty quickly and the life span is 2-5 years on average.
