I have been a type 2 diabetic for 26 years and for 15 of those years I was with a physically abusive husband, which adversely affected my already poor health. I started menopause 3 years ago and during that time I developed osteoarthritis, hypothyroidism, diverticulitis, IBS, neuropathy and occasional circumstantial depression/anxiety requiring a short session of talking therapy (or a two week visit to a caribbean island, whichever is less costly). In my life I have worked long hours for 37 years, raised 2 wonderful children (who are now fully grown) and obtained a BA Law/psychology honours degree. I love to cook and always have a long list of people who want to come to dinner at my house and who help with the bits I can't do - like peeling the potatoes, or chopping the salad. My health is now deteriorating quite quickly, but I try to maintain a positive attitude and a healthy lifestyle. I have a dream which is to stay at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore and I hope some day to be able to afford to fulfil this, before my health is too bad to allow me to travel.
