Laura describes how the relationship with her husband has changed since undergoing gastric bypass surgery.
Laura:
My relationship with my husband has changed. I would say, just I am more outgoing. He doesn’t see me so depressed. We had a great relationship beforehand. He has always been supportive no matter how, whether I was heavy or whether I was thin. Of course, you know, now he says, “Oh, I have got my wife back from when we got married,” because I am almost down to what I weighed when we got married.
So he is excited to have that person back, and my energy level, I want to do things and get out and go places. I am not embarrassed to be out anymore. So, with that in mind he is happier, I am sure, that I have lost this weight.
I do appreciate him more now that I see how my mood has, or I am not depressed anymore. I can only imagine what he had been tolerating for the last 8-10 years, and he is such a passive person. He has been very understanding, and that’s difficult, very difficult, because I am sure he was upset with the way that I felt. But, he is again, just very supportive, always has been very supportive.
