Cosmetic Acupuncture: Youthful Look Without Injections Or Surgery

According to cosmetic acupuncturist Francesca Perino of Perth, Australia, acupuncture can bring a youthful look to your face without the use of injections or surgery.

"The treatment is hugely popular in the United Kingdom as an alternative treatment to botox and other chemical treatments. And now it is finding a niche in Perth, with clients seeking natural treatments to refresh the face."

The Aesthetic Surgery Journal reported in 2008 that more patients are looking for natural treatments for a more youthful look.

Cosmetic acupuncture needles are applied to the face and body to enhance energy flow. Ms. Perino believes that the acupuncture needles prompt the production of more collagen which is a natural filler for wrinkles.

University of California professor Richard Glogauat thinks that cosmetic acupuncture may relax facial muscles rather than increase collagen production.

Ms. Perino says that treatment can take approximately four weeks to bring about the full effect. Results may last for two years.
