Jeanette recalls her vision waning and shares the cause of the problem.
Jeanette:
I am Jeanette and I am a patient of Dr. Gong and I’d like to share my story about my cataracts. I was born and raised here in Phoenix, so I have lived in Phoenix my whole life and being a school teacher, I had been exposed to the sun a lot and then also my brother has cataracts and probably my parents had cataracts, but they probably never bothered to have them taken out.
I first noticed that my vision was not as good as it used to be. So then I decided I need to go to Dr. Gong to check about my vision and what was happening with my so called vision because I was pretty proud at my age that I didn’t have to wear glasses. So I came in, in 2008 and Dr. Gong did an examination and found out that I do have the beginnings of cataracts in both eyes.
My fears are, since I am a sewer my fears are maybe that they would get too large that I will be not able to enjoy one of my favorite pastime – sewing. I notice now that Dr. Gong did prescribe that I get bifocals so that way when I am doing close up work I can put those on to help me and of course eventually, when the cataracts become larger I would have them removed.
