If you took your birth control pill on Thursday morning, at the regular time, then it was protected intercourse on Thursday night.
Taking the pill 20 hours late did cause a drop in hormone levels, and as you are aware did cause the brown spotting. But, there would have been no risk for pregnancy if you did not have intercourse other than on Thursday night.
