Graduated from Southern ConnectIcut State University with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing and minor in psychology.

Worked for 10 years in a hospital setting in a medical/surgical unit and critical care unit. Employed for two years with a gastroenterologist in a private practice setting. Have been a registered nurse in Connecticut for 38 years.

Married to a gastroenterologist since 1985. Mother of three adult children., daughter with a PhD in psychology who is married to a physician, son enrolled in a PhD/MD program at Boston University Medical School, and son enrolled at George Washington University.

I am a cancer survivor. Diagnosed with esthesioblastoma in 2007 and in remission since 2010. Diagnosed with early stage, estrogen positive breast cancer in 2013. with no evidence of recurrence. Have undergone multiple surgeries, courses of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

I have been a freelance writer since October 2009. In my role on EmpowHER, I try to inform and educate. Knowledge is empowering.
