I am in my mid-50's, in menopause and do not have high blood pressure but I do have insulin-resistance (diabetes). I started having problems with chest pains. I thought it was asthma or a heart attack. Nitro didn't help. I went to the ER twice and my doctor had a full cardio workup done. My heart is fine. HOWEVER, she did find that I was Vitamin D deficient (I don't have the numbers). Now I take Vitamin D and a steroid (ick) inhaler. I haven't had the pains in a long time. I'm hoping I can toss the inhaler. Maybe it WAS the Vitamin D deficiency!!!!! Oh, and I was on calcium, too.
